Emergency Medical Technician Training

Basic and advanced emergency skills based upon the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administrations guidelines for National Registry EMT's. This class varies from the basic land based EMS program in that offshore providers rarely work in teams and are located great distances from definitive medical facilities.

Practical evolutions pertain to all subjects listed above. Simulations are designed to simulate true offshore situations utilizing accurate wound simulators and makeup.

Course Content Length 204 hours

Academic requirements: 41 chapters consisting of 8 module exams and final exam. All module exams are averaged and consist of 50% of the student grade. Final exam equals 50% of the student final grade. Minimum passing grade is 75%. All lab and practical evolutions are pass/fail.

Diving Medical Technician Certification Training

This program has been developed and meets the requirement of the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology. Qualified divers who have completed an emergency medical technician course can become either a Diving Medical Technician - Basic or Advanced. Our program stresses the need for each diving medical technician to be able to treat and diagnose diving related illness and treat it under the direction of a diving medicine physician.

Remote Medicine Health Care Provider

Within the Offshore Industry as well as other remote settings, medical care has seen some improvement to the approach of the health care provider being more independent and requiring a higher level of confidence and competence. Their responsibilities and roles are expanding as are the demands placed on them to provide quality health care. In order to meet these demands and better prepare Remote Medicine Healthcare Provider, training is a necessity. The Remote Medicine Healthcare Provider Course is such a program and is directed at the DMT, EMT level. Here the Medic, as he or she is called, is exposed to clinical subjects taught by a staff of highly skilled personnel (Physicians, Nurses, Physician Assistants, and the like).

Course Content Length 120 hours

Course goals and objectives:

  1. To give the Medic a better understanding of the clinical aspects of medicine in a primary care setting.
  2. To expose Medics to the techniques of obtaining a history, performing a physical exam and recording their findings in an outpatient record.
  3. To learn the signs, symptoms and therapy for medical problems that are common to the primary care screening process.

Course content: The Remote Medicine Health Care Provider Course is divided into modules that cover specific areas of medicine. The topics include: Dermatology, Eye, ENT, Neurology, Cardiology, Pulmonary, Gastrointestinal, Orthopedics, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Infectious Diseases, Endocrinology, and Pharmacology. Each module contains sections on anatomy and physical examination and a number of common medical problems presented in a SOAP format. The course is designed to be presented over a period of eighty hours. Written tests and quizzes, a mid-term and a comprehensive final exam will be given. A practical examination will also be used to evaluate the student's ability to perform a physical examination. Instructors will draw upon personal knowledge and experience and demonstrate the physical examination techniques required for each section.

Saturation Life Support Technician

This program has been developed due to the significant need for highly trained and qualified personnel, primarily within the offshore oil and gas diving industry. Saturation diving has evolved from its infancy to today's highly technical and safest mode of diving in the world. In order to maintain this high level of safety, qualified operators are need on a daily basis. The LST-A program is designed to prepare the individual student to work under the direction of a fully qualified LST and Saturation Diving Supervisor or LSS. Upon successful completion of this course, along with the required hours in the field, each individual will be evaluated by his/her employer and a determination will be made as to LST qualification.
This program meets or exceeds OSHA, USCG, ADCI and IMCA requirements.

Course Completion Requirements: Each student will be required to complete the required content hours, all homework requirements and practical evolutions. The minimum passing grade to be certified as an LST-A is 75%. Students requiring additional instruction will be afforded such each class day at the completion of the days training. All diving physics mathematical examinations will require each student to obtain a grade of 80%.

Diving Supervisor
